Connections

Follow migrating animals on a map and see where they travel throughout the year. On the Move turns wildlife tracking data into a simple window onto animal migration, showing the journeys of birds and other animals as they move between breeding, feeding, and wintering grounds.

Choose from species including white storks, cranes, honey buzzards, turtle doves, gulls, shrikes, wheatears, curlews, hawks, vultures, a blue whale, and a loggerhead turtle. When an animal has a working GPS tag, the map shows its latest recorded position and the date it was recorded.

For species without a current GPS position, On the Move uses a full year of published tracking data to show where that species is typically found on the same day of the year. This lets you follow seasonal migration even when there is no current location available.

A thick line shows the journey already travelled, while a thin line shows the typical route ahead. Each screen also includes the animal's name, location, timing, and a rotating fact about the species or individual.

Choose a single species, several species, or let the whole collection take turns. On TRMNL X, Flock View lets you view several animals at once.
