Plugin Analytics

we're blessed to have so many prolific creators. as of this writing, community plugins make up 90% of the ecosystem. by the end of this year it could be 95% or higher.

so it was long overdue to give the builders more tools. first came trmnlp, followed by debug logs, next came Transform, and today: Analytics.

let's walk through each module to see what it can do for your workflow. follow along with your own dashboard at trmnl.com/analytics.

At a Glance

here we list your published plugins in alphabetical order, noting their state (healthy, degraded, erroring) and connection stats.

clicking "Reset Errors" will wipe child connections of error messages, a quick and helpful tool to determine whether recent changes impacted your work's stability.

Forks

this section bubbles up child instance issues for async debugging (versus waiting on a user report).

error messages are grouped by date, with a quick link to the parent plugin. adequate PII from end-users is provided in accordance with our Plugin License and Privacy Policy.

Total Connections

if you've ever wondered where to invest your limited free time, this section provides a quick overview of your work's popularity.

this data is also useful to infer cause and effect... for example, in this real-life screenshot above from our HQ Recipes profile, it may be the case that "Social Media Followers" is not growing because* there are frequent payload size errors. let's fix that!

Installs over Time

hitting Publish on a new plugin is just the beginning. after our team performs a quality check and distributes it in the marketplace, we like to announce your work and share it in our Discord > #flex channel.

but there are a lot more ways to share TRMNL plugins:

  1. create a featured image and generate an 8k Mockup
  2. tag us on social media and we'll re-post
  3. add your Refer & Earn code (?ref=xxx) to your public landing page
  4. share a photo of your work in a relevant subreddit

each of the tactics above will increase visibility to your plugin, making you eligible for the Creator Fund.

Meta Analytics

if logging into our web app isn't your thing, community member y2ee201 graciously designed a TRMNL plugin that puts the same data above, right on your device.

install it here:

or design your own with our new Analytics endpoint:

# while logged in
https://trmnl.com/analytics.json

# for plugin development or remote requests
curl -H "Authorization: Bearer <user-api-key>" https://trmnl.com/analytics.json

next steps

today we're sharing Analytics v0.1. stay tuned for 1.0.
